sweet copper birds and more little treasures

Christmas is over and I'm back........... I was quietly busy up until Christmas painting a canvas for Gemma my neice and making little fabric tags and atc's and then was thoroughly spoiled by my two sisters, Tina and Jenny. Thankyou my darling real life sisters. Unfortunately I have had the most horrid toothache all though Christmas and yesterday went to the dentist to find I have to have root treatment arrrgggghhhhhh!!!! I now have a dressing on my tooth and cant eat or speak properly :( All that lovely Christmas food cooked by Bill my brother in law and the best cook in the world and I couldnt eat it. I now have to somehow, keep this dressing on my tooth until the end of January when I start the treatment. I managed to post some of the little things I was working on and am now just catching up, here's a little taster of what Ive been working on. I've also been working on and have finished my fabric charms for the swap organised through the very talented Ruth Rae. Im keeping my charms a surprise but you might be able to quess the little creature that might be included on my charms!!!!!
Lia aka artjunkgrl and my one of my wonderful blog sisters, has aked me to do a little tutorial, so have started the process this afternoon and will post it soon so if you would like to know how I make my little atcs and tags watch this space. Theyre very easy and good fun and there is no stress involved!!!

And finally for now ~ here is the canvas I painted for Gemma ~ its inspired by a gift wrap paper that she loved and her mum Jenny (my sis) is decorating her room is this kind of theme ~ its so much nicer in real life. I had to take it outside to photograph it but we are not getting any real daylight these days so it doesnt look as good as in real life ~ Ive used fabulous interference paints in parts so it has amazing sparkle in places.

So I'm off for now ~ I have to catch up on all my blog friends and do hope you are all happy and had a good holiday. Love to all and God bless ~ Jude xxx

Christmas Eve ~ Fourth Sunday in Advent

Advent ~ waiting.

The waiting is almost over. The morning service in my Church had an uplifting service with lots of Child participation, how wonderful it was.

The final advent banner went up this week and our little Banner Group has done what we set out to do, we wanted to let the congregation see the words Hope, Peace, Love and Joy as our Minister lit the candles and spoke the words so they would register.

The Nativity Banner was also up and we had a simple wooden Nativity scene sat on the Communion Table ~ this was gifted to the Church and is really beautiful.

Now Im just off to get cosied up and go to Church for the Watchnight Service, probably the most important service in the Christian Calender ~ the waiting for our Saviour to be born, theres such great anticipation in the Church where people from all over come together. I love it. So if anyone out there Christian or Non Christian reads this I wish you all a truely Joyous Christmas and Hope you find Peace and Love at this time. God bless, Jude xx

A quiet evening sewing in front of the fire

A lovely quiet evening making some lavender hearts and some 'shabby' tags for two little girls stockings. Of course now my lovely tidy sofa is covered in threads and snippets of this and that !

The sun is out the sky is blue and Christmas day is coming soon and its.......

Today is Thursday 21 December 2006
the sun has come out and its wonderfully cold!!!
The rays are streaming in my little house and making it look so warm and glowing.
I thought I would share some of my very simple Christmasy things.

Above is my favourite jug in the whole wide world and around the bottom are two of my Christmas atcs I made, with them is a fabulous amazing beautiful 'artjunkgirl' Christmas card tag, I am so very very thrilled I adore Lia's work and I sneeked a peep in a parcel that arrived for me today and just had to take it out, ooops!!!!
Thankyou so much Lia xxxx
The gorgeous holly came from one of my quilting friends, Marjoryxxxxx

Here you see one of my tin angels and the other little atcs I made.
The floral decoration is by me!!! in oasis and I learned how to do this through our Church flower lady.
The picture in the frame is of Desa ~ Stevie and Scarletts little Kitty hes so adorable, and the card is made by my wonderful talented beautiful daughter in law Scarlett Scott ~ I named her the Vintage Cardie whilst staying with them as she has become hooked on card making and loves all things vintage!!!

Above are some more of my tin ornaments, these are some of my fav things and I try to buy a little one each year, please note they are pink!!!!!

And last but definately not least is my humble Christmas Tree, we have a tiny house and live eat and breathe all in one room so a huge tree is out of the question but it looks sweet in the corner!! The tree skirt is made by moi!!! It is a Thimbleberries pattern from the Thimbleberries Book of Quilts by Lynette Jensen an adorable book which Ive had for 11 years and that means the tree skirt must be at least 10 years old. Most of the tree ornaments made by me are also about 10 years old ~ How time flies.
At the top of my tree is the tin Father Christmas who lost his sleigh in my last post. For those who were a little worried he's got it back now ~ good job cause we'd have been in trouble otherwise!!!!!
Have a wonderful Christmas to all who read this and celebrate Christmas and to all whatever you celebrate may you find peace and love at this time.

'Inspire me' when its cold outside

Inspire Me Thursday ~ how fabulous is this weeks thought ~

Baby, It’s Cold Outside,

'It’s a winter wonderland outside (or a @#%$ blizzard, depending on your point of view). This week, let’s take a moment to slow down and reflect upon our wintery surroundings. Then pull out the paints and papers and pencils and pay tribute your favorite aspect of winter.'

I know, it says paints, paper and pencils but I just substituted a little here and there!!!!

felt, satin, sheers, velvet and cotton

felt, satin, sheers, angelina fibres and cotton

felt, satin, sheers, velvet and lace

felt, satin, sheers and angelina fibres

Ok I know I was meant to go and get on with other things BUT this was way too important!!! Here you'll see my little creations very quickly put together using hand felted wool and snippetts of fabrics lace and thread, I sometimes think I work better when time is short and I work spontaneously. See you later, Jude xx
