Peace to all at Christmas

A child is born to us!
A son is given to us!
And he shall be called ruler.
He will be called
"Wonderful, Counsellor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace"

felt flowers

In the run up to Christmas you'd think my kitchen would be full of baking and cooking things ~ oh no, not likely. My little kitchen is covered in my wool tops and bubble wrap!! Im hooked ~ wet felting is beautiful to make cause you can really mould the felt with your hands its amazing, Ive got lots to learn and I know Im getting a book for Christmas (cant wait) but just playing and seeing what the felt does by your self is just brilliant. Here's a little flower I made for my big sis Tina! Im not sure if its too big but either way she can wear it or display it!

I made the felt using four colours of felt and wet felted with bubble wrap, a bamboo mat and rolling pin and glycerin soap.

After felting the wool I used Stef Francis threads and hand stitched some detail, I made a felt ball ~ shown to me by one of my college friends and covered this with Colonial knots (similar to a French knot) once this was sewn in place I then played and shaped the flower by hand and rolled it over and over with my fingers. Over night I pinned the rolls in place and left the flower to dry. The best light to take the photo was outside this morning but it was sooooo cold I was shivering so the photo is a bit blurred!!! I've since attached a brooch pin.

Hope your all keeping warm and cosy and Im off to see big sis now:)

Loads of love Judy xxxx

felting and me

What a busy time its been college, family, even a little night out on Friday for me with my weight watcher friends, a Robbie Williams tribute and meal, it was brilliant and I and danced danced ~ well you have to make an effort dont you!!

Here's little old me with my glasses which I have to wear nearly all the time now too much sewing and wearing my sparkly little black dress from Red Herring, this time last year I could never ever have worn a dress like this!!!!

At college on Monday we did felt making oh my goodness I am well and truely hooked I know this isnt my college blog but the class lead to lots of other goodies being made!
the one above didnt work for some reason the tops didnt bond together but these little pieces will be brilliant to work into other pieces

and this did work and is now ready for stitching and making into something

My tutor told us about a supply shop right on my doorstep!!!
It 's amazing called Twist Fibre Craft

felt supplies along with bubble wrap a rolling pin and glycerin soap!

And so inspired by my other work
I decided to make some goodies to wear with my red winter coat!!

Laying out the wool tops

wetting the wool tops

the felting process finished I added beads to make bobbly bits and made some extra into a flower
..........................................

so here is the scarf

and here a bag and flower I made, ok I know I got carried away with myself!!

I have to figure out how to make felt without a seam ~ inside of bag is lined with some gorgeous fabric I have had for years yes it has roses on it!! and the handle still has to go on not sure about that yet.

If any wet felters read this any kind of feedback would be greatly appreciated, thankyou Judy x

tea party, cupcakes, art dolls and collage

November meant my lovely girls; Rachel and Louise were 17 and now all grown up. But I wanted to do a good old fashioned tea party for them with jelly and ice cream, pass the parcel and balloons and goodies ~ well it was a lovely success their friends loved it and so did they, it was lovely to see them all together laughing and happy, I enjoyed every minute of the preparation and it was lovely making all the goodies. I made some cup cakes to hang and lots of bunting (not in the picture) and now they have dissappeared into Lu's bedroom!!! I wanted to share the picture of our home while it looked tidy! no fabric or threads paper or paints on the table or floor!! Its definitely not like this now :)
********
Here's a collage I made when Lu was off school, its on one of my painted (mixed media) backgrounds and has lace, stamps, vintage wallpaper amongst other things

dearest..............

When Rachel and Louise were little I used to make little dolls for them and their friends, I must get into the loft and search through the boxes from when we moved and hunt them out, any way the other day I found my patterns amoungst my papers ~ lots of interesting little patterns that I used to design when they were babies, ahh the memories ~ so here is

judrops my own little art doll

till next time, Judy x

brrr its Frosty the Icicle Doll

I've made one ~ an Icicle doll that is, I saw my first last night on Sara's blog and fell in love with the idea I followed her link and found a new world of icicle dolls on Belinda's blog where she gives instructions on how to make the little beauties. I've even more cut out and ready to go!!!!

This one is made entirely on the embellisher with sheers and has some hand stitching with silver metallic thread and some sheer sequins and beads. The face is an 'inchie' and was printed directly onto cotton on my Epsom printer I've attached a rusty hanger so I can hang it from the tree at Christmas. Definately more to follow:) Judy x
