colours of the rainbow

This weekend Jim and I went to the intermediate weaving class at Coburg Art Studios with James Donald ~ tutor extraordinaire.

We learned pointed draft weave structures and took the warp further this time by being very aware of  colour ~ using more than one colour and paying attention to when we changed the colours .

last time I used  kingfisher blue and cream

so this time I wanted bright summer colours

remember my latino inspired accessories

 the weave structure is
starting to show

below ~ the weave structure instructions I choose
called birds eye 1/3 twill
(there had to be a bird in it somewhere)

above and below samples woven by James Donald

It was an amazing weekend filled with information, excellent help when needed from James
and lovely company with old and new friends.

the journey home from Edinburgh was abit hairy!! Crazy winds and rain, branches falling from trees 'things' hitting the windscreen and general battering about.

driving across the Forth Road Bridge
an amazing rainbow appeared arching over the Forth Rail Bridge ~
70 mph gusts with rain on one side of us and sunshine the other.

heading up the M90 towards Kinross ~ the Ochils in the
distance

Monday
A little tired after the busy weekend ~  I started a job which I had to do for
my church ~ a while ago (2006 ) I and the banner
group made a wedding banner and when someone marries
I always make lavender hearts to hang on the banner.

Lavender from my garden and some of my friends
it was picked last year and dried

silk lavender gold thread and ribbon

and the finished hearts

the crazy wind got all my washing dried and I've got everything ironed ( a miracle for me) the hearts are made, dinner is eaten and now Im waiting for Mary Queen of Shops :)

have a fab week ~ Judy x

When I watched Mastercrafts on weaving it was so complicated! I have great admiration for those who achieve it so beautifully. It's one craft that, as I don't do, I buy!!

Very lovely Judy.

Judy sweetie, thank you so much for good wishes, I'm healing nicely and each day making progress. My FOQ quilt is taking up so much of my time (my fault, I started it much too late!) but at least it takes my mind off stuff

I'll probably do a post about avocado dyeing some time. Lucky Scarlett and Stevie having a tree in their back garden, I love avocados! xoxo
